Short Political History of the Brogendenstein Dwarves | 119-127

Ghestaldt Blimth, Thane of Brogendenstein, arrived on the Arelithian archipelago in Ches of 119, from the northern samman stronghold of Citadel Adbar on continental Faerun. Ghestaldt sought to grow the order of Gorm Gulthyn (the ever vigilant). Soon after his arrival, he was informed by Thane Glanak of Clan Ironhelm that the dwarven ruler was being hunted by assassins.

Thane Glanak was attacked on 28 Mirtul 119. Ghestaldt was the first to find the wounded dwarven ruler and tried to heal him of his wounds, but they were beyond the healing of any dwarf. The assassins had succeeded in their task. The final words of Thane Glanak were "Fuma'Vhid" - the name of his dhaerrow assailaints.

And so Thane Glanak of Clan Ironhelm passed into memory and song on 1 Kythorn 119. He is remembered for the well-deserve respected he earned among the samman of the Golden Halls during his rule from 112 to 119 AR. He is remembered for his greatness and leadership of Brogendenstein.

In the Flamerule 119, a vote was held to select a new heir to succeed Glanak Ironhelm, initiated by Glanak's Regent, Kellarn of Clan Stonekegg. Kellarn did not have sufficient support of the Golden Halls to immediately succeed Glanak because he was appointed to his position, not selected among the dwarves.

Tabitha was elected as the new Regent shortly thereafter. Tabitha was deemed worthy of the title Thane by the High Sonnlinor of Brogendenstein, Elder Broind of Clan Keglighter, and was coronated by the end of 119. Thane Tabitha's years were noted as ones of inactivity. The Golden Halls grew quiet. Her inactivity led to the resignation of Warden Bardin, of Clan Ungorwegen.

In early 122, Ghestaldt Blimth informed Thane Tabitha of his intention to stand for leadership as Elected Regent. By the summer of 122, Thane Tabitha announced she did not intend stand for re-election for Elected Regent. In Ches 123, Ghestaldt Blimth was selected as the new Elected Regent of Brogendenstein. In Ches 124, he was coronated as the new Thane of the Brogendenstein.

Notably, this period marked a tumultuous relationship with Guldorand. Thane Ghestaldt reestablished ties with the eastern settlement after its release from the stranglehold of Banite dominance. Indeed, dwarves marched to the defence of Guldorand during the second decade of the second century. However, in 124, Thane Ghestaldt ended ties with Guldorand because of the Earldom's actions in signing a secret peace treaty with Sencliff, Wharftown, and Guild of Necromancy. The Earldom entered these discussions, unbeknownst to Brogendenstein, who have always stood opposite to the nefarious factions of the island. Guldorand sought forgiveness for their actions, and in the early months of 127, the relationship has begun to mend once more.

Also under the guidance of Thane Ghestaldt, between 124-125, Brogendenstein also undertook the Burrowhome as its vassal, as the fort sought a new Mayor for its leadership. During this time, the Golden Halls acted as guardians and protectors of the halfling settlement to ensure a smooth transition of power and leadership. In Elesias 125, the vassalage arrangement ended as Burrowhome selected its new Mayor, Lyra Littleshadow.

In Uktar 127, Thane Ghestaldt announced to the island the formation of the Coalition - a treaty between Brogendenstein, Bendir, Guldorand and Myon, to act together to promote virtue across the lands, stem the actions of the nefarious, and repel the Underdarkers. This idea was born in the Golden Halls, and the dwarves under Thane Ghestaldt, spearheaded the negotiations of the four northern domains.

And so, Brogendenstein continues under the diligent watch of Thane Ghestaldt, as he seeks to stir the Golden Halls back to the period of stability and vigilance seen under Thane Glanak, and like many of the dwarven Thanes of old - Belrun, Gorann, and others. With passing time, we will watch to see how the reign of Thane Ghestaldt is remembered in song, story and lore.
