The Seekers of The Song by Nelehein

The beginnings of time are forever shrouded in a mist that few contemporary scholars can pierce. Alas, the manipulation of time travel is a forboding task for even the greats, like Blackstaff or Elminster. What we know is what has been written, and there is one closely guarded myth that I now intend to share with you, briefly.

Toril is a wide world, and many hide in their towers and libraries – many lock secrets away to never be shared. There is one such group that is particularly careful. They call themselves “The Seekers of the Song” – a group of bards, rhapsodists, scalds, sages and scholars who are united by the power of the Voice (a philosophy that must be discussed in a separate text)

More importantly, they forever seek the fragments of what they call “The Song.” It is their belief, at the beginning of time, music was played. A song specifically, with a melody, harmony and set of lyrics unbeknownst to almost all. It is said that this song is the origin of all things, that it may itself be the watchmaker of the many watches of the cosmos. It’s a startling idea – to think that music was the origin of all. Yet, it resonates. When one is still, when one listens, when one really listens, you can hear. Some will never be able to, some are gifted – these are the Seekers.

What they hope to find are the fragments of the Song. Though literature, it has been led to believe scripture and notation of the Song remain. And remarkably, to this day, pieces have been found – a half bar here, a chord there, three or for syllables at another. Much has yet to be found, but though the Song, the Seekers seek to empower their Voice, and more importantly, discover the answers to what so many have questioned.
