A black day in the history of Arelith, the battle of the Balor Maw Lake has made its sorrowful way into many historic works.

The starting point for this event was the capture of an Arcane Tower member within the Abyss. Word spread fast, and quickly the Arcane Tower, Keep Benwick and the city of Cordor each assembled an army to march onto the Citadel in the Abyss, in order to free the poor captive.

The march lasted a few days, on the way many more of Benwick, the Tower and Cordor came to join the rescue army. In the meanwhile, word had reached the Black Citadel, and defenses were prepared. Parts of the Abyssal Forces were not present though, lead on a mission by Emperor Lordaryn and Lady Nelyata Wennarnes.

Many messengers were sent, magical means used to contact them, and eventually the First Knight Nelyata Wennarnes was informed successfully, the warparty hasting to make their way back to the Citadel.

Time was crucial in this event, and it has been on the side of the Forces of Entropy. Shortly before the Army arrived to besiege the Citadel, the Abyssals returned, Lady Nelyata quickly took control and issued orders to march against the attackers before the attackers could reach the Balor Maw Lake. The plan came too late though, as both armies faced each other at the Lake, and soon battle ensued. It waged for many hours, one by one men fell on both sides. In the end, only three men were still standing: Lordaryn, the Black Archmage and Emperor, Nelyata Wennarnes, First Knight, and Terkk, Highpriest of Entropy.

All others were slain eventually, and many who have shaped the island of Arelith are known to have fallen that day, including former archmage Ayin Mesmer, Erik Silverarms, champion of Benwick, Keira Heavenstrike, priestess and former commander of Cordor's guard. Only Enserric Aerlias managed to escape barely into the endless wastes of the Abyss, what happened to him is unknown.
