Arelith: Dragons of the Archipelago
"The Arelith Antiquarian Society is instituted to examine, preserve, and publish all antiquities as connected with the art, language, literature, and history of the Arelith Archipelago. The works bearing this notation have been reviewed for accuracy and authenticity regardless of race, faith, alignment, or affiliation."
"Abyss: Zamashar, The Abyssal Dragon"
One can find this beast on the plane of the Abyss, though there are no true directions. Much like the Lost Desert of Sibayad, a traveler must roam the fire-scorched paths until they find a one-way valley in which there is no way out except forwards. Here you will find the dragon. Threat Level: HIGH
"Avernus: Haldrathagalthyasryl, The Styx Dragon"
Cross the lands of Avernus, lurking along the River Styx and surrounded by the empty souls of the damned, you will find the Styx Dragon. This darkwym haunts the putrid waters of the River Styx. Being immune to the harmful effects of the river, this dragon swims with impunity across the Plane, feasting on any creature it finds. Threat Level: EXTREME
"Avernus Wastelands: Unknown Remains"
Located within the wastelands of Avernus are the remains of a once-great Dragon. Its name and story are lost to time. Threat Level: DECEASED
"Barrow Grounds, Dark Spires: Adult White Dragon"
Patrolling the upper lands of Brogendenstein, this adult dragon will swoop down on any adventure it feels deserves their attention without warning. Travelers are encouraged to always keep one eye on the sky above and the other upon the Undead rising from below. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Brogendenstein Hall of Legends: Darnoth, The Silver Dragon"
A regal and statuesque Silver Dragon lives within the mountain stonehold and serves as guardian and advisor to the dwarf clans. Friendly in his demeanor, this dragon is rather pleasant to speak with. Threat Level: LOW
"Celestia: Bahmut, The Gold Dragon"
Located within the heavenly planes, Bahmut can be reached via the Astrolabe and spoken with. While the Astrolabe itself can be a challenge to find, the most common method is to drink a Potion of Attunement near the center stones of the Heartwood Grove. Once in the Astrolabe, a vial of holy water should be placed on the pedestal to open the way to Celestia. Threat Level: HIGH
"Crystal Caves, Mountainside: A Black Wyrm"
Following the Crystal Caves path up towards the lands of the Dwarves, on the same mountainside with the cave that leads to the Harpy Nest and tucked away in a somewhat hidden gap, you will find a Black Wyrm. It is relatively weak, though it can go toe to toe with most seasoned adventurers. Threat Level: LOW
"Dark Spires, Temple of Auril: Qorusthalatharxyl"
The Frost Temple can be found atop the Spires, higher up the mountain range, past the base camp. Its entrance is a cave flanked by two towering statues of Ice Giants. Within this cavern are the servants of the Frost Maiden. Holding almost total dominance over the Dark Spires, after deposing the much weaker Icythyss, Qorusthalatharxyl is a feral example of dragonkin. While possessing only mild intelligence, the white dragon displays animalistic tendencies when confronted. Threat Level: HIGH
"Forest of Despair: Adult Green Dragon"
Claiming the whole of the forest known as Despair, this adult dragon will swoop down, without warning, on any adventure they feel deserves their attention. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Goblinoid Fortress, Bramble Woods: Adult Green Dragon"
Worshipped by the goblinoids of the fortress this dragon will, at times, swoop down upon adventurers as they reach the peak of the Fortress' central tower. As this ambush happens after the keep's ruler has been defeated and the adventurers are leaving, many find themselves caught off guard and surprised by the ambush. While not as dangerous as most Dragons, adventurers can still flee through the one-way portal at the summit of the keep should they recover from the surprise of this clever Dragons ambush. Threat Level: LOW
"Iron Mine, East Cordor Frontier: Unknown Remains"
Located at the very bottom of the Cordor Iron mines lies the remains of an unknown dragon. While the story of this beast is lost to time, it no doubt is tied to the half-dragon kin that guard the area. Threat Level: DECEASED
"Lake Minmir, The Gnoll Caverns: The Shadow Drake"
It is recorded that, at one time, one could find a cave guarded by the Dog-Soldiers known as Gnolls near Lake Minmir. These aggressive creatures defended both a passage to the Underdark and a Shadow-Drake. However, attempts to locate this cave have failed. Due to the ever-changing landscape of Arelith it is believed the cave, gnolls, and Shadow Drake have been lost to time. Threat Level: VANISHED
"Light Keep: Imperator, The Silver Dragon"
The Silver Dragon of Lightkeep, now fallen, was known as 'Imperator'. This creature supposedly helped judge the souls of mortals who passed the gate and guarded Lightkeep. Its remains lay in the Keep before the Hellish portal to Avernus. Threat Level: DECEASED
"Lost City, Island Ruins: Sea Serpent Matron"
Located within the ruins of Kohligen, which can be reached by ship or through the plane of Water via the Astrolabe, is the great Sea Serpent Mother. While the Astrolabe itself can be a challenge to find, the most common method is to drink a Potion of Attunement near the center stones of the Heartwood grove. Once in the Astrolabe, a bottle of water should be placed on the pedestal to open the way to the Waterplane. If an adventurer has the patience to traverse the island ruins of Kohligen, they will discover the great Sea Serpent Matron located in the flooded city beneath the Lost Keep. To reach her nest, one must find The Descent underground which is reached by navigating the Lost Keeps interior. You know you are close after you pass the second of two flooded passageways. Keep your eyes open for a large opening in a broken wall and follow your way down. While not as challenging as her size might have you think, the Sea Serpent Matron still manages to provide a fair challenge. Threat Level: HIGH
"Lost Desert, Forgotten City: Adult Black Dragon"
Claiming the ruins of the Forgotten City, this adult dragon will swoop down, without warning, on any adventure they feel deserves their attention. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Manor of Mourn - The Dracolich"
Hidden within the Manor of Mourn supposedly lies a Dracolich. Information on this place is relatively unknown. Though tales of terror surround this dark land, and one should not trespass lightly. Threat Level: HIGH
"Red Dragon Isle, Abazuur's Palladium: Abazuur"
Located at the top of the island, Abazuur is a particularly old and powerful Red Dragon. Ruling as the matriarch of Isle, she and her many servants are a force to be reckoned with. Adventurers should not face this Queen without being fully prepared or they will surely meet their end. Threat Level: EXTREME
"Red Dragon Isle, Sulphurous Grotto: Ancient Red Dragon"
Located within a cave, this male Red Dragon likely serves as a mate for the island's matriarch. While not having a horde as impressive as Abazuur, the lair and fight provided by the male are still worth the challenge. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Red Dragon Isle, Sulphurous Grotto: Unknown Remains"
Located in a cave near the island's current living male dragon, these remains are believed to be the remains of the last male dragon to hold the position of bonded mate to the island's matriarch. A testament to the old saying "The Hells hath no fury as a dragon scorned". Threat Level: DECEASED
"Sanctorium: A Shadow Dragon"
Within the Shadowplane, near the echo of old Wharftown, lies the library Sanctorium. If one travels down through its passages, they will reach the Chambers of the Provost. Within one of these is a statue of a Shadow Dragon looming over a chest. Rumor has it that if one were to try and open the chest, this statue comes to life. While interesting, this dragon of shades is likely only a minor threat to a skilled adventurer. Threat Level: LOW
"Sibayad Coast, Mountain Ruins: Adult Blue Dragon"
Claiming the whole of the sands of Sibayad, this adult dragon will swoop down on any adventure it feels deserves their attention without warning. Most often attacking those that travel the Coast, reports of this dragon attacking in the Lost Desert have also been reported. While many assume this Dragon attacks out of a territorial instinct and pride, some believe it is in fact a defense measure to protect a hidden lair and clutch of eggs. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Skull Crags, Western Slopes: The Mist Dragon"
Located off the main road, within the foothills sits a solitary Mist Dragon. While their favorite known activity is sitting quietly to contemplate the way of things, they hate being disturbed and will attack any adventure that interrupts its quiet repose. Threat Level: MODERATE
"Twin Falls Gap of the Arelith Forest: Adult Green Dragon"
North of Lightkeep, through a hidden passage set into an alcove in the rock face, one will find themselves in a beautiful, secluded garden filled with the sounds of chirping crickets. To the back of this alcove is a cave with quarters and guarded by a large white bear. At one time a fearsome Green Dragon called the location home but has since vanished, likely relocating to a new home. Threat Level: VANISHED
"Underdark Glacial Caverns, The Melt: Ancient White Dragon"
In the middle of the path leading to the Ice Roads lies a great White Dragon, its form intermingled with that of a lifeless golem. While time has forgotten the reason for their conflict, the subzero temperatures of the location have forever frozen the two in a final moment of clarity. Threat Level: DECEASED
"Underdark, Lower Caverns of the Lowerdark: Ancient Shadow Dragon & Black Dragon"
In what is one of the strangest sights of Arelith, nestled in the deep dark, are the corpses of two great dragons. Their preserved bodies are arranged next to a ritual circle, the creatures' large hearts placed within its center. While having no understanding of such vile magics, one does not need to ponder long to guess at the dark designs this unholy magic might have produced. Threat Level: DECEASED
"Upper Shyr, The Hollow Pass: Adult Blue Dragon"
Patrolling the rolling grasslands of Bendir Dale, this adult dragon will swoop down without warning on any adventure it feels deserves their attention. Considering the sheer amount of Wyrm adventurers encounter within these green valleys, the arrival of larger kin should not be surprising. Threat Level: MODERATE
