This book is bound in black leather, with a white spiderweb motif on the cover, and red lettering in the title: Ritual of the Yath'abban Initiation.
The tome begins with manifold praises to the Spider Queen along with descriptions and illustrations of several minor rites and sacrifices. The crux of the work is as follows:
When called upon to prove her worth to serve Lolth as Yath'abban, the prospective jalil must undergo the rite of initiation at the temple before an altar. Firstly she will remove all clothing, both to present her true self to the Valsharess, and, should she prove unworthy, will never require clothing ever again anyway. The jalil must then demonstrate to the Yath'rin conducting the ceremony the following:
1) She must know all the Laws of Lolth as described at the gates of Udos.
2) She must be fluent in the unholy language of the abyss.
3) She must be able to call upon no less than three blessings which only Lolth can provide, not including healing spells nor any spells which have an arcane equivalent.
The jalil must then make an offering to Lolth of her own blood, witnessed by the Yath'rin conducting the ceremony, who must then commune with the goddess to confirm the sacrifice having been accepted.
The Yath'rin should then give the new Yath'abban her new uniform armour, instructing her that it is not to be removed, save for resting or to repair it. From the moment the Yath'abban dons her armour, everything she does will reflect on the Yath'rin who conducted the initiation ceremony, as well as on the temple itself. The Yath'abban is to be made aware of this, as well as the expectation that it is to be treated with the utmost seriousness. The Yath'rin is also responsible for guiding the Yath'abban in her apprenticeship, not merely giving her the armour and then casting her into the web.
