~The cover of this book features a spider spinning a web, the text is written with blood red ink in an Elven style that a scholar might know as Xanalress.~
The weave we Drow are privileged to use comes directly from the will of Lloth. Without her favour, Drow would not have access to her weave. It is her divine whim that we be allowed to touch even a small portion of her awesome power.
The mighty Yath, are the most privileged of all. They are given power directly from the goddess. They are honoured by being given the ability to commune and interpret the word and will of our Queen. Through them we know Lloth's will, and the direction our society must take.
Sorcerers, are born weapons. They are created, linked to the weave of Lloth by her choosing. They exist to enforce the laws of the Yath, to serve the temple in any way possible. They manipulate the strands of her Weave through sheer willpower, using it to destroy her enemies, and protect her cities.
Wizards have similar duties, but they are not born with our link to the weave. They must study the many complexities of it, to learn how to manipulate it effectively. Their studies allow them many proficiencies that are more difficult to obtain for sorcerers. They learn to scribe the weave, impart it into receptacles, and use it in many ways a sorcerer cannot. It is because of their efforts that we have golems to guard us, a device that tells if the fireball is in the caverns above, and basins in which minor magics can be imbued into weapons and equipment.
All of this, we are able to do, only because of Lloth's favour.
The kivvil deities are not as strong as Lloth. They do not posses the ability to grant their servants power as Lloth does. They all depend on a single goddess' grace, to enable them to do so. This one kivvil deity, although not as powerful as mighty Lloth, is the only one with the ability to grant the other, weaker, lesser deities, the power to imbue their petitioners with the power to control the Weave.
