This happened not that long ago, the war between Clan Ironblood and Udos.

Some say this war culminated out of a growing tension between the newly risen First House of Udos, Al’truissa and the Duergar Clan of the Ironbloods.

Queen Olga and First Matron Tam’ira of Al’truissa are rumoured to have had minor arguments, which resulted in Olga’s enforcing of new laws on all non-Duergar in the Jhareds trade-post. Some of the conflict originated from Olga’s involvement of the then Mayor of Wharftown, Naomi during talks regarding the Illithid war.

There are mixed stories on how exactly the war started, but Drow sources have cited that it began with Udos Magthere commander Curain, being issued an order by Duergar in Jhareds. Whatever his answer was, led to the Duergar to attack him. After a bloody battle, Curain left alive to return to Udos.

The Duergar Olga declared a war on Al’truissa as a result, and small skirmishes began to unfold across the local region. What led to the first major battle of Udos remains obscured, as some claim the Drow were planning to attack Jhareds, and others claim the Duergar simply attacked unprovoked.

With the assistance of surfacers led by Mayor Naomi and Orogs, Olga successfully ransacked Udos and slew the defenders, some of which are rumoured to have been Nives Zar’rocc, Curain Al’Truissa and a few other individuals.

What had previously simply been an Al’truissa and Ironblood war suddenly entrapped the other Houses into the conflict. Hlathrae, Zar’rocc and other common House Drow began to prepare for a more brutal war.

Through a sudden incentive by the Sorcerer Bel’as, Hlathrae, otherwise known as Shatra, Matron Vay’olin began negotiations with the Abyssal Forces of the 363rd plane led by Queen Morke. The result of this meeting was never revealed to the public. Vay’olin then demanded of her males to unleash the wrath of their House on the enemies of Udos Dro’xun.

Bel’as Hlathrae was spotted at the first battle, but did not involve himself. Later however, as Queen Olga attempted to issue a ceasefire, Bel’as intentionally instigated conflict once more by slaying General Grumghol Ironthew and Highpriest of Laduguer Grimnar Wyverneye. Bel’as then made the claim anonymously that the Duergar had broken their own ceasefire.

Soon into the conflict, Hlathrae mages, then Ul'faeruk Hand Dy’thielie and Bel’as Hlathrae intercepted information that a second attack was planned on Udos. Quickly taking initiative with recovered High Priestess Nives Zar’rocc, they moved to ambush Mayor Naomi who had been spotted in Jhareds.

Coincidentally, a squad of Banite and Infernalist humans were met unprepared by the fully prepared Drow ambush. This swift battle was ended by the Ul-Faeruk Hand, as he unleashed his prowess of necromancy upon the humans. The Drow left the corpses to the fate of the Stonehold portal chamber, taking only one, a female by the name of Kalina, or “Storm.”The result of that ambush and the thwarting of a potential second attack resulted in another period of ceasefire, especially between the Maleficarium, who refused to attack so long as “Storm” was in Drow hands.

Following this, Ul'Faeruk Hand attempted to negotiate a peace plan, holding a meeting with the Duergar and First Matron in the hellish tavern the “Cloven Hoof.” The plan was not accepted. During this conflict, many other Underdarkers attempted to call for peace, citing the Illithid threat as a reason not to have strife between the “allied” races. One such individual was the Svirfneblin Spora. Despite her pleas, plans went into motion to muster a third attack on Udos by the Duergar, to finally end the war.

The third and final battle was one of legend, given those involved, and the manner of which victory was attained. The High Sorcerer Orly’ett Al’truissa is credited with having called for Abyssal assistance as news of the impending attack reached Drow ears. The Abyssal humans, eager to spill blood of their own surface enemies, were more than willing to stand side by side the defending Drow. However, the force they stood against could be said to have been the one with the advantage. With “Storm” having been released, the Maleficarium led by Nyhmax marched in full force with the Banites, Duergar and other mercenaries, to utterly crush Udos Dro’xun and its defenders.

Due to the manic nature of Bel’as Hlathrae, and his usage of his wyrmling familiar, he issued orders to relocate the defensive location numerous times, at one point almost charging headlong into the enemy line. Where the battle had assumed to have occurred at the Towers of Woe, it eventually was drawn to the first bridge within Udos Dro’xun. With an attempt of negotiation by Queen Olga Ironblood swiftly turned down, the battle was started with a harrowing arcane assault by Bel’as Hlathrae. The wounded attacking force was left to contend with an untouched Abyssal and Magthere assault as mages behind the bridge unleashed a relentless magical barrage.

With any survivors scattered, the Abyssals left shortly after the battle, taking many bloody and macabre trophies from the defeated. First Matron Tam’ira Al’truissa, and Hlathrae then declared a victory and end to the war. However tensions against the surfacers involved in the first attack remained as smouldering coals, as Mayor Naomi was not amongst the fallen. It could be said that the Drow became even more ruthless against surfacers in this part of the Underdark as result of the war.
