Written for Elrith Silderith of the Oak Leaf Tribe
We were a small tribe barely twenty strong. Our live was peaceful until the retreat. Our elder refused to run to Evermeet and leave all we knew behind. There was a human settlement near by that needed lumber we offered to help them with any fallen trees but begged them to leave the old growth alone. I guess that wasn't good enough for them.
During the night they set fire to our part of the forest and in the darkness and smoke they hit us. Killing our hunters quick. Doing far worse to our woman and children seeing us as nothing by monsters because of our ears and the way we lived with the animals.
It plays out in my nightmares every night watching my father being killed my mother being dragged away by a group of men. They started to drag me away saying something of slavery. That is when the pack of wolves that lived near by came. They struck hard into the humans and one, a large dire wolf scooped my up in his mouth by my clothes and ran me away. Since then I've lived with and raised by wolves forgetting my Elven heritage or at least trying to forget my past. Despite the horrors I've witnessed I still bare no hatred for humans. I hate judgement on someone based on there race. I will always help those that are good of heart that bear me not threat. Be they kobold or goblin or human or elf.
To not is to be no better then those humans who only saw the way we looked the way we lived and dressed and passed judgement on us. Not fit to live. I will honor the memory of my family by always judging people on deeds not purely on there blood. Perhaps it is time i remembered what I am. I am Elrith Silderith, Son of Jander Silderith. Member of a long dead but not forgotten tribe of Wood Elves. I alone hold their honor and I will never taint it. So say as you will of me but never say anything about my honor or what I've seen. It is far different when you've seen through the kobold's eyes.
