It began as a simple disagreement between the Second House of Udos Dro'Xun, Z'kath, and the Ust'illharess Oblodra Drak'aa. It eventually escalated to an event that would shake the entire Drow political system for months after its start, with almost every Drow involved in some way and with few in the underdark escaping some effect from it.

Late in the year of 47 AR, a spy of Z'kath heard a meeting between Oblodra and the Tyrant of Grond, discussing destroying the city of Udos. Z'kath attempted to alert the city and rally the other houses, Melana and the Members of Drak'aa to defend the city. They failed, leading to a battle in Udos between some members of Z'kath and Drak'aa, with Z'kath ultimately losing and several of their members being slain as they withdrew from the city.

Unfortunately for Oblodra, she was unable to slay all of Z'kath, with many having not even been present at the battle. These members, along with the survivors of the battle relocated outside of the city to a stronghold in the Restful Mind.

There, they tended to their wounds and plotted. Eventually, they managed to secure an alliance with Melana and many Drow within Drak'aa to remove Oblodra and any who supported her at all costs. After several months, though, the war grew hot again. Z'kath and their allies struck at Pharyx, one of the mages supporting Oblodra and the self-styled Ul'faeruk of the Sorcere, eventually capturing him. Then, they moved against Kuostall, who also fell.

At this point, however, their momentum began to fall. They struck at Nives Zar'roc, the ulath'taller and a supporter of Oblodra. Nives defeated six of the more powerful of Z'kath's supporters before falling herself to a former Ulath'taller, Vilia. It was then that Oblodra began to turn the tide. She discovered many of Z'kath supporters, turning them back against Zkath. Members of Z'kath began to disappear, and eventually the rebellion was over. Those who had supported Z'kath reintegrated back into Udosian society, or disappeared from the underdark, many of them never returning to Udos. Z'kath itself returned to Udos as a noble house, but it was a shadow of its former self and it collapsed within a year. A house that had at one time been the First House became naught but an example to others as to the ease with which a situation can turn and devour you.
