One of the most influential beings in the Underdark, particularly Urblexis Grond, being the former Tyrant, Vippin is widely regarded, both upon the Surface and deep in the Underdark, as a highly dangerous, highly intelligent kobold. Though clearly of advanced age, his once-scarred body carries with it an unholy, unnaturally youthful vitality that animates his every word, movement, and action. He is known to have only a son and a daughter, Vutha Rasvim and Ni'Xerthos. That he only has two children is unusual, given the kobold's high status as All-Watcher of the Shadow Quartz Tribe and the infamous rate of reproduction that kobolds are known for.

His history stretches almost to the founding of Grond, of which few recall. Only a select few that remain today might recall his first ‘cycles’ in the settlement, and even then, he was smart enough not to draw any attention to himself back then. Despite his malevolent presence today, Vippin had very humble beginnings. Commonly witnessed in Urblexis as a street beggar, he barely survived off scraps of food and the most meager of supplies. Though of advanced intelligence, he had yet to unlock what potential he had for manipulation and trickery, let alone magic.

His luck finally turned less sour when he was discovered by the famous Kobold General of the Grondian Militia, Hawg Bluescale. Feeling empathy for his Kinsman, the dangerous warrior began to tutor and teach Vippin, offering him some coin and equipment. Vippin accepted these gifts with glee, and still possesses the enchanted crossbow from those many decades ago. Soon after this event, the young kobold approached the Third Tyrant of Urblexis Grond, the mighty Orog Warrior Murag, and submitted himself to the Court of Grond. Becoming Scribe of the Tyrant, the eager kobold began to follow the Tyrant around, recording and learning everything he could from observing his meetings with Drow. This also exposed him to some of the worst and most feared of Udos, such as Chav’los, Aunquav’, and even Oblodra Drak’aa.

At this point, disaster struck. The Udos-Grond War, incited by the Third Tyrant Murag, threatened to engulf the young kobold (and indeed, many Grondians were lost in the chaos). Fortunately, the Elders Hawg and Orn Gixi took many Kin to their hidden sanctum in the Underdark... What happened afterwards is a tale for another time.
